Microchipping for Pets

The only permanent, reliable way to identify a lost pet.

Home sweet home is where you want your pet to be. Microchipping your pet will increase the chances of them getting home safely, even if they happen to wander off or accidentally slip out of the house and get lost. Since there's no way of anticipating your pet's move, this tiny chip will ensure they have a permanent form of identification wherever they go. To learn more, call us at 416-444-7387.

Is microchipping safe?

Yes! It is a quick and painless procedure that doesn't require surgery or anesthesia as the chip itself is very small (about the size of a tiny grain of rice!). Once the application gun is loaded with the microchip, it gets injected under the loose skin at the back of the neck. Even the smallest puppies don't generally have any issues with it.

If my pet already has a tattoo, do I still need to microchip him?

Even if your pet has a tattoo, we would still recommend getting a microchip. This is because tattoos fade over time and can become unreadable or altered, making it very difficult to read. Some tattoos may be slower to fade and still be readable but even so, since there is no common database for tattoos like there is for microchips, it may be more difficult to find your contact information if your pet was ever lost and recovered.
